The triple layered hybrid collar which has been proved excellence performance after real circumstances tested, it made by: Outer wear layer made by Hypalon polyester(Neoprene),the mid-dumper made by non-flammable and water resistant EVA, and there were divided in few chamber area with the fast replaceable air chamber which made by Hypalon polyester(Neoprene).
These special triple layered hybrid collar with three shield which good in impact resistant, and can satisfied difference requirements, even the bullet penetrate the collar in the bullet test with M16, it still keep waterproof, and there can be replace the air chamber within 2 minutes then continues the mission without going back to the yard.
The tube was assembled in accordance to the specifications and placed in the target area of a small arm range. A M16 Assault Rifle was then used to shoot the collar from about 30m. The shots were aimed at the center part of the collar to ensure that bullet penetrated and pass through all layers of the collar. A total of 6 shoots was fired onto the collar.
Six shots were fired onto the collar and all the layers were penetrated. Six holes about 5mm width on the Hypalon outer layers for entry and six holes on the other side for the exits of the projectiles. It was also observed that the EVA foam closed up after the projectiles passed through it. There were also fairly good amount of air still trapped in the inflatable tube.
The test has clearly illustrated that the special Triple Layered Hybrid Collar designed by has excellent properties to withstand gun shots.
From the test, although projectiles from gun shots have fully penetrated the collar, the damage inflicted on the collar have no or very minimal impact on the collar’s performance.
Moreover, the damages on the collar can also be easily rectified by changing the inner inflatable tube while the boat is still out at seas.The followings are the salient points of the observations on the hybrid collar after the shooting test:
a. The shape of the collar remains unchanged. As the presence of the EVA foam wall has prevented the collar from collapsing even after multiple gun shots which penetrated its entire body.
After penetration by the projectiles, the holes on the EVA foam closed up by itself. The closed up holes on the EVA foam also help in retaining most of the air in the inner inflatable tube
